Life Insurance & Family Protection

A conversation built around your needs.

Coverage needs change with family, work and financial responsibilities. We begin with your priorities, budget and existing coverage.

We can discuss term, return-of-premium, whole life, indexed universal life, children’s coverage and final expense. Each option has different costs, benefits and limitations.

Questions worth asking

  • Who depends on your income or care?
  • What would your family need to keep their home and cover daily expenses?
  • How much coverage do you already have through work or personally?

First, understand the coverage types.

Term and permanent describe the structure of coverage. Return of premium is a feature of certain term options. Permanent coverage includes whole life and IUL. Your goal helps us decide which options deserve a closer look.

01 / EXPLORE

Term life

A defined coverage period, often used for responsibilities that last a set number of years. Premiums, renewal and conversion provisions depend on the policy.

Return-of-premium term

Certain term options return eligible premiums when the required conditions are met. It generally costs more than comparable term coverage without this feature.

Whole life

Permanent coverage with policy-defined premiums, death benefits and cash value features. Sustaining premiums and understanding loan provisions matter.

Indexed universal life (IUL)

Permanent life insurance with flexible features and index-linked interest crediting. Charges, funding and non-guaranteed crediting require ongoing review.

Then connect the coverage to your goal.

Mortgage protection and final expense describe what you want coverage to help with. Children’s coverage describes who is insured. Guaranteed issue describes an eligibility approach. These are starting points for a conversation, rather than interchangeable policy types.

What are living benefits?

Some life insurance policies offer riders that allow access to part of the death benefit during life after a qualifying illness or event. Eligibility, costs and payment amounts vary. Using the benefit reduces what remains for beneficiaries and may affect taxes or public benefits. These riders do not replace disability income or long-term care insurance.

A few things you may be wondering

I already have coverage through work. Why review it?

Start with that benefit. Review its amount, who is insured and whether it can continue after you leave. Personal coverage should address a need, not duplicate benefits without a reason.

What if I think insurance is too expensive?

Share a premium budget you could maintain. We can discuss available options and tradeoffs; eligibility and pricing depend on your circumstances.

Does reviewing coverage obligate me to buy?

No. You can learn and ask questions before deciding whether to apply.

A useful starting point

What might your coverage need look like?

Use DIME to add Debt, Income, housing and Education. We also include $20,000 for funeral expenses. Enter the figures that fit your situation; zero is an option when an item does not apply.

Funeral expenses$20,000A fixed planning assumption for this estimate.

Education assumptions: Public $50,000 per child; Private or Not sure $100,000 per child. These are planning examples, not college-price estimates.

One example

$20,000 debt + $20,000 funeral expenses + $50,000 income × 10 years + $1,800 monthly rent × 12 × 10 years + two children with a $100,000 education goal each = $956,000. Subtract $100,000 in existing resources for an illustrative additional coverage gap of $856,000.

Use the estimate to start a conversation about your responsibilities, existing resources and budget.
